Is the Church hiding some of its light?

This episode addresses the subject of public relations i.e. PR. What is PR? How can the Church can capitalise on good news stories through PR?

We all know of good work being done by local churches, but it’s rare to hear about it outside a local context. That's an issue in a world which gets their information from sources other than the church. Isn't it time we shone our true light to expand God's kingdom?

Award winning PR expert, Evadney Campbell, director of Shiloh PR explains in this episode how local churches can navigate this under used discipline.

1.30 Evandney’s biography and experience

2.20 How people outside the Church world gather their information about the Church from sources other than the Church. That information might be inaccurate, misleading or negative. The Church seems to be insular i.e. talks to itself. The Church needs to recognise the importance of getting our collective message out to wider society.

4.07 Why don’t local churches and Christian charities do more to promote their good works? Hiding their light under a bushel.

5.30 Why the name Shiloh PR? Its biblical connection.

7.45 Some people’s understanding of has negative connotations. Why marketing, advertising and PR have different functions. What PR actually is and what benefit it is to the local Church.

12.25 A cast study of a Christian organisation using PR. Using PR to reach a wider target other than an established Christian audience i.e. people who might have a faith, but don’t attend a local Church. What would Jesus do about the injustices we are facing in this age?

18.30 What activities constitute PR? How a PR consultant works with clients

21.45 The cost of PR services.

28.00 Collaborative working with organisations who need to reach a target audience i.e. African Caribbean.

31.15 Can Churches do their own PR?

33.20 PR book on handling the media and Evadney’s breast cancer testimony

39.00 The difference between Ministry & Church

40.00 Advice to local churches who want to engage in PR activities
