Ben Camacho is a journalist who asked for, and received from the City, over 9,000 photos of LAPD officers. When the LAPD called foul, they sicced LA City Atty Hydee Feldstein Soto on him.
Hydee knew Ben was protected by common sense and the First Amendment, but she didn't care. Hydee not only lost the first case, but as the second one was about to go down her team convinced her to just settle with Ben and pay his lawyers $300,000.
