Your Heard Tell Show for Thursday, October 26th, 2023 is turning down the noise of the news cycle and getting to the information we need to discern our times by talking about the horrible murder of 18 people in Lewiston, Maine, the manhunt for the gunman, parsing through the unreliable early reports of breaking news, and how to start framing the discussion now before the inevitable "next time" comes around. We have a new Speaker of the House in Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson, and if you are going "who" host Andrew has new writing on how he got the gavel, and explains what to watch for in the coming days that will be a tell to how this Speaker will fare. Our guest is attorney and Ordinary Times Senior Editor Em Carpenter who uses her latest writing to lawsplain the plea deals of Sidney Powell and others in the Georgia conspiracy charges revolving around Donald Trump and the 2020 election interference of his backers and attorneys. Em talks about how these plea deals are and are not like normal ones, how they really work, and walks us through the actual documents and procedures that give lie to the charges that Powell and others were "extorted" into pleading guilty. We then highlight the work of our friend Karrem Rifai to combat misinformation and videos purportedly about Gaza but really from the attacks by Bashar al-Assad against his own Syrian people, Palestinians, and others, and how that not only feeds into the war crime denialism of al-Assad. We end on a good note about pets being kept for folks that need a little extra help.
