What is MVD and how can you manage decentralization without going too far?

Join Hedera’s Cooper Kunz in this Gossip About Gossip episode with Amazon’s Alexa Software Developer Summer Intern, Tune.fm’s Hashgraph Implementation Consultant and Lead Developer, and Bluesky’s volunteer researcher, Rahul Kothari.

From the Software Developer perspective, Rahul shares the concerns enterprises have with blockchain technology and why he turned his attention away from Ethereum. Blockchain forking represents a very real risk to enterprise adoption. “Hedera is the most enterprise-facing DLT out there in the market, out of all them that I’ve seen.”

The Minimum Viable Decentralization means the minimum decentralization you need to achieve distributed trust that blockchain provides without going overboard. Enterprises will face only minimal changes to their codebase. Rahul points out that not many people address the negative aspects of decentralization, such as catching bad actors. Bad actors can cause massive havoc, which is why the final goal should be a high degree of anonymity without allowing bad actors to escape responsibility. This is what Hedera Consensus Service achieves.

Rahul is supporting Jack Dorsey’s project, Bluesky. Jack Dorsey, and others, have identified that data can be a liability, which is why Bluesky is attempting to decentralize a social media protocol that can still be easily accessed by everyone.

Listen to the entire interview and learn how a healthy balance of decentralization will address privacy and fake news issues without relying on a centralized database.
