This week we continue in our series of small vendors that have been participating in the local pop-ups all over town. In today's episode we chat with Brenda Apolinar of Salsas Chingona and her sister Bella Caballero of Sweet but Toxica Aguas Frescas. Brenda shares how she found herself out of a job for the first time in years during the pandemic and was left wondering what to do next, until one day at a family gathering one compliment on her homemade salsa would take her on a new journey to becoming her own boss. She has since been spotted at the local pop-ups selling out of her delicious salsas, hot sauces and more. Bella, Brenda's younger sister, has a different story. After long exhausting shifts working in the medical field during the height of Covid-19's mass infections rates, she realized her mental health was suffering and experienced burn out like many other medical professionals did during the pandemic. Inspired by her sister, she chose to join in on the pop-up life and start her side-hustle selling delicious aguas frescas. These sisters are inspiring!
