In the year 751 AD, the arid landscapes of Central Asia witnessed an impending clash of titans. On one side, General Gao Xianzhi, the pride of the Tang Dynasty, his eyes set on expanding the empire's reach further west. On the opposite end, Al-Saffah, the first caliph of the Abbasid dynasty, determined to cement his newly established rule and eager to guard the western frontiers of his realm.
Between these two colossal forces, in the bustling marketplaces that dotted the Silk Road, merchants went about their business, oblivious to the shadows of war. Many were ever so busy haggling over the prices of their goods that they and their families had been exchanging with each other for over half a millenia seemingly oblivious to the shadows of war that were approaching them.
As Gao Xianzhi strategized, looking over maps, and Al-Saffah rallied his generals with fervent speeches, many of these merchants found new ways to capitalize on the situation and started a gamble to sell to both sides of this conflict.
