Former President Donald Trump recently released a video statement putting forward his position on abortion.

He said, and I quote, “My view is now we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land.”

He went on to say that as a presidential candidate, he was not calling for any kind of national legislation to limit abortion access.

Now, I want to be clear: Former President Trump’s position on abortion is light years better than the position of the current President of the United States, Joe Biden.

Still, I am frustrated with the former president.

I think it would have been far more intellectually and politically honest to say, “We’re not going to have a choice over the fact that someone’s going to propose nationwide legislation related to abortion. I want to be very clear that if there’s going to be nationwide legislation, I want it to be pro-life legislation.”

Let’s take our stand there.
