Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system.

This week, our promote-extend-trade focuses on recent Mets crowd memes. The rally parakeet remains undefeated, but this year’s iteration ha some potential. Moving on to draft updates, Ken very well might’ve nailed the Mets’ selection, as Carson Benge continues to hit well and fits the Astros’ (and correspondingly, Kris Gross’s) draft history to a tee. Thomas and Lukas’s high school picks continue to perform, but their college picks struggle. You should also check out the BP draft board, a tool we’ll be heavily leveraging in the coming months in all likelihood.

Our second half is yet another glowing discussion of Mets’ pitching development. Jose Butto looks legit, and his strong performance against AL Cy Young-hopeful Cole Ragans should lock him into the rotation for the foreseeable future. There’s also good stuff happening in the minors (shout out Dominic Hamel), but Jonah Tong is stealing the show with absolutely insane performances for St. Lucie. He should be rocketing up both the system and prospect rankings in short order.
