The differences between compassion and permissiveness, parenting styles, and the means by which we tell ourselves we're "morally good" are at the core of much discourse surrounding therapeutic fields. With so little guidance as to what "morally good" or even "virtuous" looks like, we customize our own categories to make ourselves fit.
