Social Justice Supports Diversity And Our Democratic Process For All Citizens

Summary Points of the Podcast:

Do you know people in our country that are fear based and support the passage of laws that support only Caucasians. Through this podcast you will have a much greater understanding of their internal process, which gives you a chance to see how you may be able to talk with them or not. We need to be willing to talk with people that do not recognize white domination, white privilege and white immunity, and how it affects all people in America. Hate comes from fear and distorted views of what is real.

Hear Dr. Jackalyn’s story about how she learned about discrimination and its impact on different races, genders, the LGBTQ+ community and other groups. Ask yourself where you learned about these groups and what you were taught by your parents. Is their conflict between you and your parents? Define for yourself how your values impact your view of other groups or the experiences you have had in the U.S.

Consider what Dr. Jackalyn’s five values are, and how she lives them daily. What are your five values and when do live them and when do you not live them? Values determine what we believe about diversity, equity and inclusion. List your values then define your values. Through those definitions of your values and how you live your values you will clearly see how you support our democracy and when you do not support our democratic process.

Determine what you feel when you think about the life experiences you have had. Realize what these experiences have provided you to see how you vote, who you support and what you want to know about the people you elect to represent you in your state elections or nationally.

This podcast will assist you in clarifying your own story. When you know your story, it increases your confidence in yourself to stand firm and support what you believe to be equitable to all the diverse groups of our country. As you tell your story then you will encourage the other person to tell their story. When talking about values, it is much easier to have meaningful discussion, and it is hard to argue about values or a person’s story.
