Anja Schneider is a techno superstar who has influenced the scene with her long-running radio shows, epic DJ sets and iconic record labels. Falling in love with electronic music via listening to Kraftwerk whilst growing up in and around Cologne, Anja felt herself drawn to Berlin to visit the legendary Tresor and then decided to move to the city a few weeks later. Once she had made the capital city her home, Anja cut her teeth working behind the scenes at a pirate radio station where it wasn’t long before she made her own debut in front of the mic with many DJ bookings following after. Now one of the leading lights of the scene, in this chat we uncover what the atmosphere was like on that fateful first visit to Tresor, how she made her journey from a radio programmer to one of the biggest dance music radio DJs in the world, her experiences of playing at the legendary Berlin Love Parade and how she is helping fellow German artists and promoters through this difficult lockdown period.
