Pearland’s Teenage School Board Member

In the May election, teenager Mike Floyd won a seat on the Pearland ISD’s Board of Trustees. At the time, he was a senior about to graduate. So, before he graduated, he spent around three weeks as both a student and a school board member, simultaneously. We talk with Floyd about why he ran and what he hopes to accomplish in this role achieved at such a young age.

Pet Care Advice

Once again, Houston Matters goes to the dogs…and cats. To help us sort through your questions we’re joined by Dr. Lori Teller from the Meyerland Animal Clinic, and welcome anything else you’d like to know about your beloved dog or cat.

Sports Monday

The Astros wrapped up a weekend series at home against the Angels. Meanwhile the team’s ace, Dallas Keuchel, is back on the disabled list, and so the Astros called up their top pitching prospect, Francis Martes, from Triple A Fresno. We discuss those and other developments in Houston sports with Jeff Balke, who writes for Houston Press and Houstonia Magazine.

Audio from today’s show will available after 3 p.m. CT. We also offer a free daily, downloadable podcast here, on iTunes, Stitcher and various other podcasting apps.
