A new mural in Schenectady celebrating Caribbean culture will be unveiled on Thursday, July 11th, 5-6 pm. The mural is on the side of Tropics restaurant at 201 S. Brandywine St. New York Folklore staff members Anne Rappaport Berliner and Divena Ramessar, plus Davina's mother and community activist Lalita Ramnauth, describe the process involved in planning, designing, and creating the mural to meet the interests of the city's full Caribbean community. We also get a sneak mention of two upcoming events: the Caribbean Day Festival on Sep. 7th, and New York Folklore's 80th birthday celebration on Sep. 21st.
