Cali based - but BAD nationwide :) That's how we're going to intro you to Mitchell Coleman Jr. With Alabama in his blood, Mitchell learned bass fast and hard in his teens - and settled on the West Coast after his stint with the Air Force. When he was hearing the music that would become his path, he gravitated to the Usual Suspects: Marcus Miller and Stanley Clarke. Larry Graham, too. And we won't forget Miles Davis. But it was Jaco Pastorius that spoke to him. Mitchell appreciated the fearlessness that Jaco possessed. And - sometimes - he SOUNDED possessed! As if the bass and he became one. Mitchell brings that fun, funk and lack of fear to HIS playing. He's totally committed to the whole process of JOURNEY - which is what one of his songs is called on "Perception." This latest CD is the follow-up to his "Soul Searching" - on his own Soul Revelation label. Like his debut, Mitchell has been able to coax some fabulous artists to join him on "Perception. Including drummer James Gadsen - who worked with Herbie Hancock, BB King and Quincy Jones. Michael Bolivar, too. He was sax man for Aretha and The O'Jays. There are MORE - but you'll have to join us on 3/30 to discover more delicious facts :) It's a delight to welcome a longtime touring and session musician - who truly loves the idea of lifting UP those who feel the joy in his mucis. His commitment runs deep. And that makes his songs speak even louder to your heart. We'll start the show at two p.m. Eastern time - Mitchell is scheduled to visit at 2:30. Expect a different kind of episode....we're going to be funking it up as well as celebrating with True Love Songs - for a true "Hybrid Jazz" supporter about to be married. And my son - who turns 25 on 4/4 :)
