You are sometimes lonely and scared. You have felt frustrated, making the same mistake over and over-- You have been stuck at a crossroads, unsure what to do next. Your prayer life is probably weak and uninspiring, at least sometimes. More critically, you know that you aren't half as good as you make people think. So you might wonder how you can live a whole life of faithfulness, finish well, and be received into God's glorious presence.-These concerns are common to all believers. And each one is answered by the gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus began his longest speech about the Holy Spirit with these words- -Let not your hearts by troubled.- Sorrow had, in fact, filled the disciples' hearts because Jesus was going away -John 16-6-. But the Spirit would make their joy full -16-24-.-Regrettably, the confession's article on the deity of the Spirit isn't nearly as rich as the previous article on the deity of Christ. But it does give us the opportunity to meditate on what -the Holy Scriptures teach us- about the Holy Spirit.
