Judy Carmichael is a Grammy nominated American jazz pianist who hosts her own nationally syndicated radio show in the States. She's become something of an expert at stride piano so much so that the London Times called her “a player of extraordinary accomplishment who has made stride piano relevant again” and the New York Times declared her “astounding, flawless and captivating.”

In this interview we talk about how she literally ran into Frank Sinatra, what she learned from Robert Redford and Billy Joel, listening to records with Sarah Vaughan, making friends with Antonio Carlos Jobim, what stride piano actually is, and how a blond surfer girl met the legendary Count Basie.
