Power. We have been trying to grab it since the beginning of humanity, hence the saying “power grab.” When it comes to power we look for it in all the wrong places. The source of absolute power is the theme of almost every story, book or movie. It just takes a glimpse into popular culture, particularly the cinematic and comic world to see our obsessions with the source of absolute power. Now, all of that is fictional, but it does highlight what our culture considers power, or powerful as well as our infatuation with it. From a Biblical perspective or worldview we believe that God is all powerful, or omnipotent. All power belongs to God. The one who created everything out of nothing (ex nihilo) is the only one who is all-powerful, and amazingly our all-powerful God has given us the power to create and care for this world while we transform the culture around us for his glory.
