On this episode of In Transition podcast, we have an amazing conversation with Virginia James of Feminine Sage Wisdom on the importance of integrity, values, and legacy for women in various stages of their lives. We also talk about the wisdom that comes from finding one's zone of purpose and how it can lead to greater fulfillment. Virginia labels herself an anti-career guide, who helps millennial women navigate career transitions by creating a unique plan of action using the Zone of Purpose Blueprint. [00:03:11] Virginia burned out twice due to not fitting into systems and toxic workplaces, leading to a realization of their zone of purpose and interest in entrepreneurship. [00:06:46] She discusses experiencing burnout while pursuing a PhD and working full-time. [00:07:45] She quit her PhD in sociology due to negative effects on her physical and mental health. [00:14:10] Virginia's doctor notes their high blood pressure and stress levels. [00:18:00] She left PhD program, considered returning due to faculty interest. Found new interests outside of academia, moved to Washington State for master's program. Physical move was a healing experience. [00:23:33] Pay attention to signs of feeling drained and reduced in conversations and work environments. It's important to listen to your gut and recognize when something doesn't fit with your values and comfort zone. Speaking truth to toxicity is necessary, and it's okay to seek help and make a game plan to address it. [00:27:58] Feeling stuck in a predetermined path, comparing it to hiking on a trail. [00:29:54] Find your purpose and inner wisdom to lead life on your terms, breaking free from self-doubts and oppression, with support of community.
