THE ACOUSTIC CAFÉ is a fortnightly program featuring a mix of singer – songwriter, Celtic, Cajun, global roots, traditional and contemporary folk, blues, country blues, bluegrass, country, old timey and Americana music from Australia and around the world. Live to air, 8pm, every second Tuesday.
In his edition of The Acoustic Café the first part will feature music from the new CD by US banjo player Tony Trischka. In 2020, he discovered over 200 songs and tunes from rare recordings of private jams between Earl Scruggs and John Hartford, and he set about transcribing many of these pieces note-for-note. He gathered 15 of them on his stunning tribute album to Scruggs, Earl Jam, released June 7, this year.

He’s joined by an all-star cast of musicians and singers as they celebrate the songs and tunes that Scruggs played, including Billy Strings, Bela Fleck, Mark Schatz, Michael Cleveland, Sam Bush, Sierra Ferrell, Darol Anger, Lindsay Lou, Bruce Molsky, Molly Tuttle, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Vince Gill, Brittany Haas, Jeff White, Bryan Sutton and Del McCoury.

The recorded live part of this program is a concert by blues players Hans Theessink and Terry Evans, recorded in Vienna in 2013.

The final part of the program features traditional folk music from Australia, the UK and Ireland, with music by Cloudstreet, Vin Garbutt, De Danann, Fred Pribac, Sweeney’s Men, The Jar, Nic Jones, Andy Rigby and Richard Leitch, and The Heartstring Quartet.
