From Washington - According to research published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention, the number of cancer survivors is set to significantly increase by 2022. Researchers analyzed cancer statistics from a national database, as well population projections from the US Census Bureau to form the AACR's second Annual Report on Cancer Survivorship. Results showed that there were nearly 13.7 million cancer survivors in 2012, and that number is estimated to increase by 31% to 18 million by 2022. Nearly two-thirds of these survivors are expected to be 65 years of age and older
