Jewish and Palestinian-American Communities One Year After Oct. 7

It's been exactly one year since the devastating Oct. 7 attacks in Israel which killed 1,200 people and resulted in 250 more being taken as hostages. As the conflict between Israel and Hamas intensifies, the ripple effects have touched communities right here in Sacramento. For many Jewish families, this is a time of profound reflection– both on the lives lost and the ongoing violence. Rabbi Yossi Grossbaum is with the Chabad Jewish Community Center in Folsom and shares how he is guiding people to mark one year since the attacks.

The Oct. 7 attacks on Israel triggered the Israel-Hamas war, a conflict that has had devastating impacts on Palestinians. The Gaza Health Ministry reports that over 41,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombings and the invasion of the Gaza Strip, and many more are suffering under a worsening humanitarian crisis. Basim Elkarra, Executive Director of CAIR Action and a Palestinian-American himself, talks about how the local Palestinian-American community is navigating one year since the Israel-Hamas war began.
