It’s a useful reminder that one of the greatest gifts that we can give to a friend, family member, or loved one is a few words (be it in a letter or face to face) expressing how much that other person means to you. It was edited and adapted from Evening Round Up by William Crosbie Hunter, published in 1915.

Do you have a friend who has been a great help and comfort to you? I have such a friend. Tonight I am in the mood to think of that friend and write them a letter like this:

This is to You. It is for You. It is about You. You, I have in mind and the good influence you have had on me. It is a happiness and satisfaction to know you, and to bask in the atmosphere of you. The world is better because of you. You have helped to raise the average.
