Chad Hufford is a financial planner and wealth coach who blends his background in biochemistry, athletics, and sports psychology to help clients develop better money habits and mindsets. With over 17 years of experience managing around $500 million in assets for his firm in Anchorage, Alaska, Chad emphasizes that investing success is more about discipline, patience and behavior than pure investment knowledge.
He teaches clients to identify clear long-term goals first, before constructing an investment portfolio to support those aims. Chad favors diversified mutual funds and passive index investing over individual stock picking. He believes volatile investments can actually be the safest path to rising income over decades. Key traits for financial success include tolerating ambiguity, living within one's means, aggressively paying down debt, and consistently saving.
Chad is open about his own money mistakes and stresses the importance of being vulnerable when teaching kids about finances. He aims to normalize money talk as an everyday conversation, not just when issues arise. Drawing parallels from coaching athletes, he helps clients commit to the difficult but rewarding "workouts" required for long-term wealth, such as delayed gratification and sacrifice. His philosophy prioritizes ownership, equity and avoiding debt.
