“Being Mindful in Conflict”. It is one of the most fundamental aspects of skillful leadership. This week we explore this topic with Life Coach Jim Mondry. “Inspired Leadership means setting a Vision for what could be in such a way that the people you are leading can understand how they can uniquely contribute to it and participate along with you.” Many managers are overwhelmed with the million different things demanding their attention, from over-seeing tasks, supporting employees, responding to customers and answering to senior leaders. In this interview, Jim dives deep into the interpersonal challenges that he himself encountered as an Engineer, and the transformation that he experienced after discovering the practice of Mindfulness. “I went from having difficult relationships with Managers to being more courageous and open with them. And they started to be more open with me. The whole dynamics shifted. The energy shifted.” As a Life Coach, Jim Mondry has created a coaching program to help Managers learn to surf the wave of work, rather than be pulled under. The program helps leaders and managers recognize conflict and become more intentional with their responses. “Mindfulness was helping me be present to what is actually going on. I learned that I didn’t have to react. I could choose my response and be more intentional.” Mindfulness meditation is a core element of his program and is a critical part of Jim's life. Jim is married to a wonderful woman and has a 6-year-old daughter who charms every person she meets. He and his wife also own and operate an Apple Orchard in the town of Port Elgin, Ontario. “The act of leadership is to create a space that facilitates the greater collective vision.” Links: Jim Mondry on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/jim-mondry-28b3a75 Jim Mondry on Twitter: @jim_mondry Jim Mondry’s Email: jim@jimmondry.com Jim Mondry’s website: Jimmondry.com Book “Creativity Inc.”: Ubiquity Leadership Coaching: www.UbiquityLeadership.com Next Week’s Show: Commonalities with Sheema Khan
