In this episode I welcomed Michael Edwards to the podcast. Michael is the CEO at Gasgoyne Gateway, a single jetty Deepwater port being developed just outside of Exmouth in Western Australia’s Northwest Cape.

This is such an interesting story; Mike is an ex-Royal Australian Navy Clearance Diver who has gone on to a successful career in Maritime and Port Services.

Mike and his associates have a strong affinity with the North West of Australia and the people who live there. The Gascoyne Gateway is a passion project and a labour of love.

In this podcast we talk about:

· Mike's career in the Navy, the relationships he has developed along the way and why he still works with some of those people now.

· The Gascoyne Region and the town of Exmouth, their strengths, challenges and need to be sustainable communities.

· How the project will support the town in creating jobs, not just in the delivery of the project but in the operations and subsequent business that will be generated as a result.

· The incredibly positive environmental and sustainability impacts the project will have, not just on the marine environment but also on the regeneration of bore holes through the development of a desalination plant to service the region.

There is so much more to this podcast, jump in and learn about unique project under development in one of Australia’s most remote regions.
