Welcome to Introduction to Feminist and Social Justice Studies. This is the twelfth audio episode of the semester-long course for the Gender, Sexuality, Feminist, and Social Justice Studies program at McGill University, taking place in the Fall of 2021.

The transcript is available here: https://introtofeministstudies.blogspot.com/2020/07/episode-12-class.html

Today’s episode will focus on:

  1. Class and labour organizing
  2. We will talk about growing economic inequality and the feminization of poverty.
  3. I’ll also discuss the impact of COVID-19 and the concept of a gendered recession or she-cession (though I don’t like that term)
  4. I’ll introduce the concept of neoliberalism.
  5. We will talk about capitalism and exploitation.
  6. The lecture will finish by discussing the role of labour in the university.
