دو روز پس از انتشار اطلاعیه وزارت اطلاعات که در آن شهروندان بهایی بازداشت شده در شهرهای مختلف ایران اعضای هسته مرکزی حزب جاسوسی، مروج بی‌حجابی و نفوذی در مهدکودک‌ها معرفی شده بودند، صدها نیروی امنیتی روستای روشنکوه در مازندران را محاصره کرده و خانه بهائیان ساکن آن را تخریب کردند. وزارت اطلاعات در بیانیه‌ای که روز دوشنبه در مورد بازداشت گسترده بهائیان ایران صادر کرده، مدعی شده که افراد بازداشت‌شده مأمور «نفوذ در محیط‌های آموزشی در سطوح مختلف و به‌طور خاص در مهدکودک‌های سراسر کشور» بوده‌اند.
