Author (along with Dolores I. Rodríguez-Reimann, Ph.D.), Immigrant Concepts: Life Paths to Integration

This week, Ira spoke with Joachim Reimann, Ph.D., author (along with Dolores I. Rodríguez-Reimann, Ph.D.), of Immigrant Concepts: Life Paths to Integration. In this assimilative edition of “Ira’s Everything Bagel,” Joachim talks about what motivated him to focus on immigration; the surprising things he learned while writing the book; why part of the book is a “manual” for immigrants to help them adjust; the process of acculturation and why some migrant groups take a generation or two to adapt; and why immigration can be beneficial to a host country while also acknowledging the limits to uncontrolled migration.

Joachim (Joe) O.F. Reimann, Ph.D., serves as the president of the Group For Immigrant Resettlement & Assessment, is a psychologist in private practice, and is the co-author of several books related to immigration.

In the past Dr. Reimann served as a research assistant professor at the Graduate School of Public Health, San Diego State University; as an adjunct faculty member of Alliant International University’s California School of Professional Psychology; and as a Senior Psychologist and Manager at San Diego County’s Behavioral Health Emergency Screening Unit as well as Juvenile Forensic Services.
