Some say that you ought never to meet your heroes. I disagree. I say meet, greet, and learn as much as you can from your heroes. In this episode I got to talk with one of my personal heroes and my all-time favorite author, Craig Johnson.

Craig Johnson is the New York Times bestselling author of the Longmire mysteries, the basis for the hit Netflix original series Longmire. He is the recipient of the Western Writers of America Spur Award for fiction, the Mountains and Plains Booksellers Award for fiction, the Nouvel Observateur Prix du Roman Noir, and the Prix SNCF du Polar. He lives in Ucross, Wyoming, population 26.

We discuss his writings, the philosophy behind the larger-than life characters, and his upcoming 18th novel in the Walt Longmire mystery series, "Hell and Back", coming out September 6, 2022.
