Just as cinemas re-open around the UK, Ølund and BAM sit down to watch an 80 year old classic! Disney's Pinocchio is an allegorical tale of alchemical proportions. Detailing the harshities a young man must face entering the world, naive Pinocchio, a wooden puppet, falls victim to malevolent tricksters and sinister characters and gets taken away to a far away land called Pleasure Island where sin and iniquity is in abundance. It is here he realises the error of his ways, vows to listen to his conscious and become reunited with his estranged father. Don’t let its age deter you, Pinocchio is as jarringly relevant and realistic thematically as it was when it was released back in 1940 and should be considered mandatory viewing by any self called cinephile.
