Ep: 18 Bruce Hohler
Manage episode 376894989 series 3473635
Bruce had an exceptional management career in voluntary benefits and was recognized for his achievements by his entrance into the Aflac Hall of Fame in 2021. Born and raised mainly in the Atlanta, Georgia area, his exceptional work habits began at fourteen years old framing houses and buying his first car in 1966 for $100, a 56 Chevy. “No one ever gave me anything so I figured you better go out there and work for it.” He joined the Coast Guard spending most of his time on the Gulf Coast in the Search and Rescue station in Grand Isle, LA. After some hairy moments at sea, Bruce decided to enter sales, and the first sell he made was selling “himself” to the President of Liberty National out of Birmingham, AL. He later left the comfort of a salary plus commissions position for a straight commission sales job with Aflac starting in 1977 and he never looked back. It was tough and Bruce remembers a particular week when he heard nothing but “No, No, No’s” until finally on the last day of the week getting three “yes’s” in a row. According to Bruce, “I had a plan and I worked it consistently every day, it’s just a numbers game.” Bruce is proud to acknowledge in both sales and in life, “your spouse is an important part of your success.” Bruce shares his fascinating story of his collectibles about Werner Molders, a WW2 German Luftwaffe Pilot with a 100 kills in combat.
