(Full Audio) - University Vice President and Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick sits down to discuss the latest in Fighting Irish Athletics.

Segment 1: Introduction

Jack and Jack Nolan discuss a variety of topics, including the decision to play the NC State football game during challenging weather conditions in Raleigh, the upward trajectory of the Notre Dame football program and Jack's appreciation of the Notre Dame-Stanford series. Jack also gives his thoughts on the impact made by Notre Dame athletes during the Rio Olympic Games earlier this summer, as well as Notre Dame's commitment to athletic success in all varsity sports.

Segment 2: Jack and senior softball pitcher Rachel Nasland talk with Notre Dame rowing great and Olympic gold medalist Amanda Polk ('08). Polk became the first Notre Dame Rowing alumna to earn an Olympic medal as part of the gold-medal winning U.S. Eight on Aug. 13, 2016. The Women's Eight claimed its 11th consecutive World/Olympic Title, of which Polk has been a part of six. Polk has been a member of the U.S. senior women’s rowing team from 2009-11 and from 2013-16. She also was a member of the U.S. U-23 team in 2008 and of the U.S. junior team in 2004. In 2013 she was part of the U.S. women's eight boat that set the world record (5:54.16) at the World Rowing Cup. A four-time All-American at Notre Dame, Polk finished her career as the most decorated rower in program history.

Segment 3: Jack and Rachel talk with former Irish fencing All-American and 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Gerek Meinhardt ('13, '15 MBA). Meinhardt made the U.S. Olympic team for a third time, having also competed in 2008 (Beijing) and 2012 (London). As a 17-year old, he made history in 2008 as the youngest U.S. Olympic fencer of all time. In 2010, he became the first U.S. male to win a Senior World Championship medal (bronze) and then became the first U.S. male to win multiple individual Senior World Championship medals when he picked up the silver in 2015. In 2007, Meinhardt became the first U.S. men's fencer ever to qualify for the Cadet, Junior and Senior World Teams all in the same year. At Notre Dame, Meinhardt was a three-time All-American (2009-10, 2013-14).

Segment 4: Conclusion

Jack and Rachel send good luck wishes to fellow co-host James Onwualu as the football team prepares for a big game on Saturday night against Stanford at Notre Dame Stadium. They also preview huge home showdowns with North Carolina for both Irish volleyball and women's soccer, and No. 1 men's soccer's key ACC road match at nationally ranked Virginia on Friday night.
