2 Cor 9:8 Amplified version

"And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity."

The act of giving to God holds great significance in the lives of believers. It is an expression of worship, faith, gratitude, and obedience.

Giving to God is an act of worship, acknowledging His sovereignty and lordship over our lives. It reflects a posture of surrender, recognizing that everything we have comes from God and belongs to Him.

Giving to God demonstrates trust in His provision. It reflects our belief that God is the ultimate source of all blessings and that He will take care of our needs as we prioritize Him.

While giving should not be driven solely by a desire for personal gain, the Bible does mention that God blesses those who give with a cheerful heart. Luke 6:38 states, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

  1. Matthew 6:24: "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

  2. Proverbs 3:9-10: "Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine."

  3. 1 Timothy 6:10: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."

  4. Matthew 19:21: "Jesus said to him, 'If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.'"

  5. Luke 16:10: "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much."

  6. 2 Corinthians 9:7: "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

  7. Proverbs 22:7: "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender."

  8. Malachi 3:10: "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."

  9. Ecclesiastes 5:10: "Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless."
