When publishing posts and uploading videos to YouTube, how many views come within 24 hours versus how many come later? Over 80% of my views on YouTube and on my blog posts on Steemit at https://steemit.com/@jerrybanfield come after 24 hours. Meanwhile, most of us as authors, video producers, bloggers, podcasters, YouTubers, etc. get obsessed with what the immediate response is. This often blocks us from doing our best work and instead trying to always make whatever gets the most views or reads or opens right away. The problem with this strategy is according to my own statistics and those I have seen by YouTube, most viewers are watching videos much older than 24 hours. This means the ideal content creation strategy is to aim for evergreen tutorials, videos, posts, and podcasts because often it takes months just to get a video on YouTube ranked in search or a blog post showing up to in Google organic search. When comments on YouTube ask why I have so few views in the first 24 hours, this is the answer! I guide most of my videos like this one towards long term usefulness rather than immediate watch time! Love, Jerry Banfield
