Menstrual Health and Awareness in the Classroom
Manage episode 337500968 series 3382100
Do you know what menstrual/period hygiene is? Do you understand the critical issue that is period poverty? Menstrual hygiene is the process where menstruators are able to manage their menses using clean and safe materials in a supportive environment. In commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day on 28 May, we are honoured to have been in conversation with the Minister of Menstruation, Candice Chirwa. Candice is the Founder & Director of QRATE, an organisation focused on curating critical thinking in young people on social issues through workshops & content. She is an activist and author of the book 'FLOW: The Book About Menstruation'.
If you are curious as to how teachers and schools can play a role in menstrual health management and awareness, give this episode a listen. Learn about the amazing work Candice does, how menstruation should be perceived to facilitate better conversations, and how to raise awareness about the challenges regarding access to menstrual products, education about menstruation, and period-friendly sanitation facilities. #JGFAmplified
