What drives a widowed mother of four to Police work in an actual era in which females in the profession were unheard of and controversial? Meet Fanny Adeline Jones Sanders, or Addie J Sanders as she preferred to be known. Addie was a remarkable woman. Not only was she not just satisfied with being a groundbreaker in the turbulent and violent times of the 20's, 30's, and 40's, but she stood her ground on right vs wrong and went toe-to-toe with that ol recurring character Mayor Harman Peery....and won, ultimately after a long fight, but a W is a W when it takes a grind to get there, and takes courage on multiple fronts. Interestingly, she saw a need for a specialized investigator of child and sex crimes, and without needing the title, cultivated her work toward those types of cases. To an absolute repeat groundbreaker we toast to you and salute you Addie! To a real one!
