On this week’s episode of the Northeast Newscast we’re at the Kansas City Museum, hearing from Artist Hasna Sal on her new exhibit, “Into the Light,” which honors victims of human trafficking.

Opening Thursday, January 20, 2022 through Sunday, March 27, 2022, the free exhibit features illuminated glass works advocating for victims of human trafficking, and other stories.

To confront a growing crisis of human trafficking in Kansas City and Missouri, Hasna created the permanent art installation Into The Light: A Memorial for Victims of Human Trafficking in Lykins Square Park in the Historic Northeast. This installation is the first in a series of interventions to shine light on the perpetrators, violence, injustice, and trauma of human trafficking; to reveal a largely unacknowledged crime in our city; and to illuminate the healing, hope, and redemption of the survivors.

“Into The Light” An Art Exhibit Honoring Victims of Human Trafficking is on view when the museum is open to the public (Thursdays 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Fridays and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sundays Noon to 5:00 p.m.). To experience the full beauty and power of these works, consider viewing on a Thursday evening or close to the end of the day.
