But it was another location that captured Pipino's keen interest – a centuries-old palazzo across the Grand Canal, a testament to the opulence of its owner, Raul Gardini, one of Italy's wealthiest men. Pipino assessed the building meticulously, noting the skylight forty feet above a secluded alley, the crumbling brick façade, the brittle roof tiles. A perilous climb, certainly, but for a prize hidden within, it seemed worth the risk...
