Episode 89: Never Too Early For Yarn

In this episode, Karen has broken Maggie’s brain with stuff she found on the internet, what else is new.

In Adventures in Knitting, Karen and Maggie had a great time as usual at the Knitters’ Frolic (hello to those we introduced to the podcast and to the listeners we were able to meet) and, of course, bought yarn (and fleece, and blocking wires, and needles, and…). Of course some of the new goodies will have to wait, as both of your hosts are working on their There and Back Again Story Scarves. Maggie has left project monogamy far behind, as she’s also working on the Kernel scarf and started a pair of Neldoreth Socks. Karen, meanwhile, makes no pretensions to project monogamy, though she’s mostly been working on the Metallurgy Shawl she’s making as a retirement gift. Wait, does that mean Karen has been working on one project and is knitting something for someone else? Did your hosts swap bodies or something? Karen’s also taken a picture of her stash. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Meanwhile in Geek Squee, we’ve seen some awesome cosplay, including an epic Death Star gown, a Boba Fett ballgown, an adorable K-9 poodle skirt, an amazeballs steampunk Rowena Ravenclaw, and an amazing interpretation of Smaug. Maggie also has a tiny cosplayer of her own for Free Comic Book Day. There are a couple indie films that are being distributed online from a couple of our favourite people, namely Joss Whedon’s “In Your Eyes” and Clark Gregg’s “Trust Me.” McDonalds is making us headdesk about their gendered toys, and an a similar note, we got cast photo for Star Wars Episode 7, yay! There’s like one new female character, boo.

Finally in Cravings, Covets and Crushes, we have found the amazingness that is the Men in Knitwear calendar, and the Handmade Stuffs etsy shop. Two things to brighten our day.
