In this episode, Karen and Maggie are firmly ensconced in the blanketfort and they are never coming out.

First: Sheep to Shawl! Karen and Maggie were part of the Agents of SHEEP that competed at the Royal Winter Fair Sheep to Shawl competition in November. Despite being mostly first time competitors, an early start, a wheel that BROKE MID-COMPETITION their shawl won *drumroll*……FIFTH PLACE of nine teams! And just as important or possibly even more so, a certain Agent of SHIELD retweeted their team photo, which your hosts are *still giggling over*. :D:D:D

In Adventures in Knitting, Maggie finished the Grimm Scarf, have made (unpatterned) a slouch and a beanie from her handspun for Christmas gifts, started working on Alice Socks by Patti Waters for a friend from college, but switched to Patti’s Zipper Socks for ease of knitting, and the Swirly Mittens for her mother are…still going. She’s also SUPER EXCITED about seeing Gabriel Iglesias perform when she goes back to the ancestral homeland. Karen, meanwhile, is almost done the There and Back Again Story Scarf (aka the Scarf of Doom). SO CLOSE. Sooooooo close! Of course she also knocked two days off the time she had to finish it because she couldn’t resist the urge to go to a Hobbit movie marathon. Whoops. She’s even planning a project to cast on as soon as she’s done: the Tauriel Socks from the Winter 2014 Knitty.

In Geek Squee, Karen and Maggie try to keep it short but can’t resist freaking out about the mid-season finale of Agents of SHIELD because OMG YOU GUYS. Also because there was a certain knitter pilgrimage location that was used as a location in one of the episodes. :D Also they both saw Big Hero 6 and LOVED IT. Seriously, diverse group of superheroes that use science to save the world, a giant cuddly robot; this is right in our wheelhouse. Karen is also loving the show “The Librarians” and its cheesy, cheesy goodness, Maggie’s enjoying “Constantine” and is making a sadface at the thought it might get the axe, Christopher Lee (Aka Saruman the White from Lord of the Rings, aka the actual most interesting man in the world) has released a heavy metal Christmas album, and apparently there was some Star Wars thing that happened recently?

In Cravings, Covets and Crushes, we’re squeeing over quite a few things in the new Knitty, Karen has a new mug from potter and ceramicist Maaike Charron which is *super adorable*, and we found the source for all the super cool Marvel con-exclusive merch you see at New York Comic Con, ReedPOP Supply Co.
