The FBI has identified the shooter at the Donald Trump campaign rally as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. He's from the town of Bethel Park, about an hour south of Butler where the rally took place.

The Feds are now officially calling this an attempted assassination. It was the most serious attempt on a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981.

Trump is now back home in New Jersey recovering. He said he was hit in the upper part of his right ear but he is "fine."

Authorities say Crooks used an AR-style rifle from a tower about a few hundred feet away. Officials still do not know a motive for the shooting.

Three others in the crowd were shot. One of them was killed, two are in critical condition.

The Republican National Convention will still go on Monday in Milwaukee, and former president Trump says he will be there.
