Philly students, community activists protest on 1-year anniversary of Israel-Hamas war

Students and community activists gathered at Drexel Square Park on 30th and Market Monday afternoon to protest the one year anniversary of Hamas' attack on Israel. (Photo credit: Sunny Morgan/KYW Newsradio) The protest was organized by the Philly Palestine Coalition and Philadelphia Students for Justice in Palestine Coalition. The students are from various schools in the area.... According to the group's social media pages, students held a strike from classes and joined the protest. The group marched west down Market to 34th....and then marched through University City, heading for the Grays Ferry Bridge. The protest came to a stop at the Pennovation Center to hear more speakers. The police maintained a heavy presence throughout the events, and tensions escalated between them and the protestors.
