A truly sensational and bizarre sports story emerged last Friday in Louisville, KY, as #1 golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler, was arrested by police officers after a misunderstanding at the front of the Valhalla Golf Club. And, we're ready to discuss what ESPN did amazingly well and what the Golf Channel was pathetically behind on, the entire morning/day.
We ready to discuss that with a special guest and have a lot more on the massive racing weekend from Indianapolis to Charlotte to Monte Carlo, too on the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast."
Host T.J. Rives brings aboard Andrew Bucholtz of AwfulAnnouncing.com, to discuss the Scheffler arrest coverage, as he wrote about it for that site. The guys debate what Golf Channel did not do and what they very easily could have done in covering such a huge story in their niche'. They also debate whether the Golf Channel is done as an entity that fans can rely on to cover/analyze and report on the game and it's players/events or if it's just a hub to show golf tournament broadcasts at this point?
Next, the talk turns to the auto racing and T.J. turns to Phil de Montmollin of the "Announcer Schedules Podcast" and Twitter handle to interview their mutual friend and racing enthusiast Joe Castello. Joe has tremendous insight into the newest running of the Indy 500 Sunday in America's hearland and also, NASCAR's most grueling afternoon and night in the Coca Cola 600 in Charlotte.
The guys talk about it all and also tell some great stories about covering the 500 on separate occasions earlier this century and what it's all like?
Hear it all on the "Last Word on Sports Media" podcast and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple/Spreker/Spotify, etc.!
