SAP has been the official cloud and analytics partner of the Women's Tennis Association since August 2013. Over that time, it the technology giant has developed the most sophisticated performance data platform in world tennis.

The WTA has worked with its sponsor to integrate the new technology into the fabric of the game itself. The women's game allowed in-game coaching breaks before SAP came onboard, but since the deal was signed, the tour has gone a step further and permitted coaches to come on court with tablet computers to strategise, mid-game, with their athletes.

On a two-stop jaunt to Eastbourne and Wimbledon earlier this year, the Leaders Performance Institute caught up with Jenni Lewis, global sponsorship technology lead at SAP, to find out what the system is all about, and then Tennis Australia head of women's coaching Nicole Pratt, to find out how it's being implemented out on the court.
