It is a tradition at Jewish Synagogues to invite speakers to discuss religious and secular mattersfor an over-night study during the Holiday of Shavout. Radio Host and author Chuck Morse has been invited over the last several years to speak at 2 Boston area synagogues on conservative values and how they resonate with Jewish values. This year, his speech was entitled "President Donald Trump and the Jews." One of the synagogues desided not to extend an invitation to speak. Chuck spoke at the other synagogue, which had the courage to invite him, but his presentation was met by a walk-out by more than half of the attendees. Most of the protesters returned at the end of his presentation. Chuck observes that the protesters consisted of two general types. The first type, the hard left, are hard-core haters of Trump who can't be reached. Generally they reflect approxamatly 5-10% of the American population. The rest, the majority of the protesters, are social climbers who have imbibed an exterme and entirely irrational hatred of Trump for reasons that are more often unconcious. This group can be reached and the best pathway toward reaching them is through tolerance, patience and love. They are mostly well-meaning, not hard-left, who aspire to be socially accepted and who believe that thier irrational positions are somehow virtuous.
