Welcome to the Law Training Centre Legal Navigator Podcast with your host Rebecca Ogunmayun.

In today’s episode we are delighted to welcome Grant Sanders, Partner at Stephen Rimmer Solicitors, to discuss qualifying as a chartered legal executive, alternative qualification pathways and becoming Partner at a law firm.

Having started out his legal career working in the post room, Grant has now transitioned from a fee earner role in private practice to a Partner and Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) at Stephen Rimmer Solicitors.

We were also lucky enough to hear some of Grant’s insights from an employer’s perspective, particularly on the SQE, non-traditional education pathways and the skills required to enter the legal industry: “I don’t put a great deal of value on grades on a CV, but what we really look at is transferable skills and attitude in the interview. I think the qualifying work experience in SQE is going to open up a lot of diversity, as the training contract was very competitive, and with the QWE, you can get your two years across lots of different companies, including voluntary work.”
