As strange as it sounds, the classic cowboy hat was designed and manufactured in North Philly. The Stetson Hat Company’s Philadelphia factory, incorporated in 1891, produced dress hats for both women and men. Employing over 5,000 workers in various departments, the company turned out more hats than any other during the early 20th century. He built hospitals, libraries, and concert halls in gilded age fashion, just like his robber baron cohorts. Join us as we tip our hat to John B. Stetson.
