Multi-genre, modern electronic artist Michael Sebastian returns with ‘Godoye’, the 3rd single to his fourth album, ‘Kadako’. Kadako sees the South African-born artist develop his practice beyond live-looped compositions into full scale dancefloor ready productions. ‘Yana’, Kadako’s lead single, was featured on House Music With Love and Spotify’s New Music Friday, ‘Duma’ premiered on Clash and featured in Earmilk. With the success of recent collab with Ibiza DJ Ridney, ‘White Isle Memories’, which reached No.1 on Traxsource Lounge & Chillout, as well as featuring on the Ibiza ‘22 compilation which reached No.1 on the UK Dance album charts, we expect people to go wild for ‘Godoye’. Godoye’s driving breakbeat kick was inspired by Bicep’s drum machine wizadry, the track expands into a euphoric club powerhouse with an eastern twist. Kadako is as melancholy as it is jubilant, inspired by memories of London warehouse raves and yoga studios. Fusing Christian Loffler’s meditative minimalism with Bicep’s anthemic bangers, it is an album to journey to. Written in the depths of lockdown in 2020 Kadako channels the frustration of a year of closed clubs and venues as well the censorship and isolation we all faced at that time. What was meant to be an ambient album came out a lot harder hitting. The artwork via Mie Hybschmann incorporates the disposable face-mask, a symbol of the virus, to print the textures on canvas. Both pieces of work seem to highlight the effects of the pandemic as both a tool for, and a limitation of creativity. This release sees Michael Sebastian dive deeper into analog synthesis, combined with his main instrument guitar to imitate, replicate and recreate synth lines.
