Rebecca Rachmany feels that TV would be great if it weren't for all the programs. Her company, Gangly Sisters is committed to creating new content for girls. We want our girls respected for their smarts and strength, but we bombard them with images of women valued for their sweetness or sensuality. Did you know that in children’s programming, fewer than 25% of the characters are female? I bet you did know that most of those characters are either props or tokens in male-dominated media, or driven mainly by their desire to get a boy to fall in love with them. If we want media that reflects who we are, who we want to be, and who we want our girls to be, we ladies are just going to have to do it ourselves.
