Today's bonus episode is from Day 2 of our annual high school symposium, EnviroTalks. In early April 2021, in honour of Earth month, our team hosted a virtual symposium for high school students to learn more about the careers available to them in the field of Environmental Science, Engineering, and Design. In this episode, you will be listening to a presentation from Dr. Gail Davoren. Dr. Gail Davoren is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Manitoba. Her research interests include marine ecology, species interactions, food web dynamics, marine conservation biology, sea birds, whales, and forage fish. Dr. Davoren's lab investigates interactions of forage fish and multiple marine predators (seabirds, whales, fish) to understand predator-prey and food web dynamics. This research will increase our ability to maintain the long-term productivity of this northern marine ecosystem to sustain fisheries yields and conserve marine biodiversity.
